Dear ,

Here is a new Progressive Secretary letter. You will be able to edit your name, address, etc. in the next step.

This letter supports a campaign by the Environmental Working Group which asks lawmakers to oppose bills that would provide complete liability protection for ethanol producers, oil companies, gas station owners and others for damage caused to engines by E15 - or any other motor fuel. The letter goes to the President and to Congress.

Please oppose the so-called Domestic Fuels Protection and Domestic Fuels acts. They provide liability protection for ethanol producers, oil companies, gas station owners, and others for damage caused to engines by E15 or any other motor fuel.

These bills would also exempt oil companies and gasoline stations from any responsibility for damage caused by fuels leaking from storage tanks, a provision that undermines state consumer protection laws.

Data on E10 (10% ethanol) already show increased emissions. Moreover, ethanol leaks contaminate water supplies. Usage of E15 (15% ethanol) would reduce gas mileage, increase engine misfiring, and degrade emission control systems.

Please resist the special interests and promote cleaner fuels instead.

Sincerely,

Kathie Turner, Director
