Dear Progressive Secretary Supporter

Here is a new Progressive Secretary letter.

This letter supports actions by the ACLU and others advocating for the Voting Rights Advancement Act. It responds to the issues raised by Shelby v. Holder which rolled back protections in the Voting Rights Act.

Your letter will be sent to your Senators, your House member, the President and the Vice President.

Please support the Voting Rights Advancement Act, H.R. 2978.

Since the Supreme Court rolled back voting rights in Shelby v. Holder, many states have enacted restrictive voting laws, suppressing the votes of people who had been previously protected.

The Voting Rights Advancement Act creates a new formula for determining which voting procedures need to be supervised. It would also require states with repeated and persistent violations of voting rights to be subject to federal oversight for 10 years. They could, however, establish a clean record and be removed from the list.

Please make sure our voting procedures are fair. Support the Voting Rights Advancement Act.
