Dear Progressive Secretary Supporter

Here is a new Progressive Secretary letter.

This letter supports an action by various political candidates and organizations, including Cage-Free Cannabis, LeftAction, National Democratic Training Committee, and The Nation. It asks the DOJ to allow states to continue to regulate marijuana as they have been for the last several years.

Your letter will be sent to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

During President Trump's campaign, he promised to leave marijuana policies to the states.

When he took office, the Department of Justice focused its resources on prosecuting more serious marijuana crimes, like drug cartels and sales to minors. It left general marijuana use and medical use up to state law enforcement. State governments could decide on their laws and make sure applicable restrictions on sales were enforced.

This policy has been effective. The dire effects that some predicted have not materialized.

Attorney General Sessions: Please reconsider your recent decision to have the federal government handle marijuana regulation. Allow the states to regulate marijuana usage for their citizens.

Sincerely,

Kathie Turner, Executive Director
