Dear Progressive Secretary Supporter

Here is another letter from Progressive Secretary.

This letter supports campaigns by the ACLU and others. Your email letter asks your Senators to vote for the bill. The legislation requires employers to make reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers and prevents them from taking adverse actions against pregnant workers, among other provisions.

As with the Americans with Disabilities Act, accommodations that result in undue hardship to a business are not required.

We will send your email letter to your Senators

In the 21st century, pregnant American workers still lack critical workplace protections.

Many of these workers are their family’s sole or primary breadwinners. They can’t afford to lose income and health care benefits when they need it most. However, if they continue to work, they might put their pregnancy at risk.

The Senate can prevent this problem by passing the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. This bill requires employers to make reasonable, temporary accommodations for pregnancy unless it places an undue burden on the business. The bill’s provisions protect the health and economic security of pregnant workers.

Please do all you can to support the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. Co-sponsor the bill, advocate for its rapid passage, and vote “yes” when it comes to the floor.
