Dear Progressive Secretary Supporter

Here is another action alert from Progressive Secretary.

This letter supports campaigns by the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, People for the American Way, the National Organization for Women, and others. We join them in asking the Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA).

“WHPA establishes a statutory right for health care professionals to provide abortion care and the right for their patients to receive care, free from medically unnecessary restrictions that single out abortion care.” Center for Reproductive Rights

We will send your email message to your Senators. The House bill — H.R.3755 — passed on September 24, 2021

I strongly urge you to pass S. 1975, the Women’s Health Protection Act, now.

Over the past decade, states passed more than 500 laws restricting abortion access, eliminating such access over much of the United States. Nearly 90% of U.S. counties are without an abortion provider; 5 states have only one clinic.

Equal access to abortion care is essential for social and economic equality, reproductive autonomy, and a woman’s right to make decisions about her own life. But receiving such care is becoming more difficult because of state-level laws that restrict or ban access to abortion.

Please pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) to safeguard women's right to access abortion care throughout the United States by eliminating bans and medically unnecessary restrictions.
