Dear Progressive Secretary Supporter,
Here is another action alert from Progressive Secretary. Our letter supports campaigns by the Coalition on Human Needs, Americans for Financial Reform, Americans for Tax Fairness, Demand Progress, Progress America, and other organizations. It asks Congress to pass an appropriations bill that reflects the needs of low-income and working people. Last year, Congress passed multiple short-term spending bills, locking in low Trump-era spending levels and hurting those most in need. That temporary funding runs out on February 18th. Click here to send this letter or to learn more (you can edit the letter in the next step, if you wish).
We will send your email message to your senators and your House member.
Since 2010, considering inflation, 68% of programs important to people with low and moderate incomes have seen funding cuts. For example, HHS nutrition spending for the elderly is about $50 million less today than in 2010.
Congress must pass an omnibus appropriations bill with updated funding. Please ensure that our families and communities are receiving the support they need.
I urge you to take immediate action to increase investments in education, housing, child welfare services, job training, nutrition, and other programs that help low and moderate-income Americans.
Failing to do so directly hurts our communities.
Kathie Turner, Executive Director
