Dear Progressive Secretary Supporter

Here is another opportunity to make your voice heard. Progressive Secretary is “Activism Made Easy.”

Our letter supports campaigns by Friends of the Earth, the Center for Food Safety, and others to ban neonicotinoid pesticides. The Wildlife Trust, the  Pesticide Action Network, the Center for Biological Diversity, and other organizations support the ban.

Worldwide, various organizations have sought to ban this pesticide. In the UK, 38 Degrees has petitioned the Environmental Secretary to ban neonicotinoids. Germans have petitioned the European Union to ban "neonicotinoids (that) have led to mass bee deaths."

We will send your email messages to the EPA

Ban the use of neonicotinoids immediately.

Studies have identified acute and chronic adverse human health effects from exposure to neonicotinoids. They range from respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological symptoms to genetic damage and congenital disabilities.

These pesticides contribute to the decline of bees and other beneficial insects. They pose deadly threats to essential pollinators.

Several months ago, the EPA reported that three widely used neonicotinoids likely harm about three-fourths of all endangered plants and animals. These include all 39 species of amphibians protected under the Endangered Species Act.

These insecticides threaten our health, environment, world biodiversity, and our ability to put food on our tables. Please act to ban these pesticides now.
