When voters stay home, the special interests win.
No wonder powerful groups and complicit politicians are waging a ferocious campaign all across the nation to cut down on our access to the polls!
They’re muscling through outrageous anti-voter laws making it harder for low-income, minority, younger, and older Americans to vote...
Slashing election budgets to make voting ever more cumbersome...
Flooding the election with billions of dollars to drown out the voice of the voters...
And worst of all? Their cynical assault on voter rights is working.
That’s why the League of Women Voters is launching an emergency Voter Protection Campaign this month.
And that’s why I’m asking you—someone who shares my commitment to defending the right of all Americans to participate in our democracy—to support the League with a gift of $25, $35, $50, or whatever you can afford today.
We’ll put your gift to immediate work implementing our three-part Voter Protection Campaign Plan:
- First, we’ll go into underserved communities across the country and begin registering voters. Lots of voters. In fact, we’re aiming to sign up six million new voters by Election Day next year.
- Next, we’re going to demand long-overdue reforms in voting procedures and investments in new technologies to bring our voting systems into the 21st Century—and restore Americans’ confidence that their votes will be counted and the outcome fairly decided.
- Finally, we’ll rely on your support to fight some of the worst voter discrimination laws since the days of Jim Crow, including cutbacks on early voting, onerous voter photo ID requirements, and the elimination of same-day registration.
This is an ambitious plan, and I won’t pretend it will be easy. We’re in for some tough battles ahead, and we’ll have to make substantial new investments to fight back against powerful special interests.
But I’ve never been more optimistic. Especially when I talk with people like you who share my outrage at what is happening to our democracy.
We need you with us for the tough battles ahead. Please, take a moment right now to support the League of Women Voters.
Thank you for your commitment to our shared cause!
