Photo ID Update and Action Alert

Both chambers of the Missouri legislature have now approved photo ID. The Missouri House of Representatives yesterday approved SB3, legislation to require photo ID. They approved placing a proposed constitutional amendment to authorize photo ID (SJR2) on Monday. SJR2 was approved by a vote of 102-55; SB3 was approved by a vote of 99-52. All Democrats and several Republicans voted against the repressive measures.

Thanks to Rep. Stacey Newman who spoke the truth boldly from the House Floor yesterday, stating: "The only thing this bill does is make sure we have registered voters who aren't allowed to vote," she said, adding, "This is not democracy. This is voter intimidation and voter suppression."

The House and Senate versions of the bills are different, so both SB3 and SJR2 now go back to the Senate before they can go to the governor's desk.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Contact your Senator and tell him or her to VOTE NO on SJR2 and SB3 - click here to use our automated legislator look-up system to send your Senator an email letter and/or call.
